The Athiri Kinship
The Athiri Kinship combines mental health support, political education, and leadership development into a summer program. Unlike a traditional fellowship where programming focuses on individuals, the Athiri Kinship focuses on communal bonds. We use popular education, where people’s strengths are centered, to build the collective power needed to create social, political, and economic change. If you’re new to activism and organizing and looking for healthy, effective ways to make change—this is for you.
What We Do
Political Education
Learn how systemic power works, who makes decisions about our communities, what policy governs us, and more.
Mental Health Support
Get specialized support from a licensed psychologist and apply coping skills that can turn pain to purpose.
Leadership Development
Gain skills in storytelling, base building, and direct action. As we learn about what leadership requires, we practice it with community projects and an issue campaign to make change.
